General FAQs

+ WHAT EXACTLY ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Eyelash extensions are a man-made lash that is grafted to your natural lash. The extension is made from a PBT fibre, which is a material that can be headed and formed into shape (curl). Each lash is grafted to a single natural lash with a medical grade adhesive. Eyelash extensions give the appearance of having mascara on without the messy clumps and smudging that can occur with makeup. When applied correctly, on the one natural lash using an appropriate weight and length, the extensions should not itch hurt or pull your natural lashes, nor should they cause any damage to the natural lashes.

+ HOW LONG DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS TAKE TO APPLY?

It depends on which set is applied. A Natural set could take around an hour and a Volume set around two hours.

+ HOW LONG DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS LAST?

This can vary based on a number of factors. For example, lashes on clients with oilier skin tend to require refilling more frequently than clients with less oily skin. Likewise, natural lashes shed at different rates, based on time of the year, client stress and health levels etc. In general, if the aftercare procedure is followed correctly, lashes can last up to 6 weeks. However, we recommend refill appointments every two to three weeks to fill areas that have naturally grown out.

+ DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS RUIN YOUR EYELASHES?

If the process is undertaken correctly and the natural lashes are not weighed down, then no, they don't. However, if a salon is not isolating correctly and not considering the strength of the natural lash to determine what it will safely hold, then damage can occur. Visiting a reputable salon that considers the health of your natural lash is the best decision you can make. At Lash Loft and Beauty Bar we do not use heavy lashes and we do not go too long if the natural lash cannot handle the length and weight.

+ HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

For consistently amazing eyelashes, we recommend refill appointments around two weeks after the initial application. A refill appointment is very similar to a full set appointment and we prepare the client in the same manner. The process is the same apart from the gentle removal of any lashes that may have grown out a little. We then fill in the gaps, allowing you to walk away with a lovely fresh set again.

+ CAN YOU PUT MASCARA ON EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

One of the benefits of extensions is that they look like you have mascara on all the time. If you still wish to apply mascara, you need to use an eyelash extension friendly product and never a waterproof type. We recommend Max 2 Mascara Gold. If you choose to apply mascara, cleaning your lashes is essential. ProLong lash cleanser is ideal for cleaning the lashes and can easily be performed at home, each day or night.

+ HOW OFTEN DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS NEED TO BE REFILLED?

Ideally every two or three weeks, however, some clients may shed their lashes more quickly than others and require more frequent appointments.

+ CAN YOU REFILL EYELASHES THAT HAVE BEEN APPLIED AT ANOTHER SALON?

Unfortunately we have decided to not refill other salons work. Should you have lashes currently on you could book in for a removal and new set or you could wait until they have all fallen out and then book in. We would love the opportunity to show you our detail and styling so we hope to see you soon. If we can help further please give our friendly team a call to discuss the options.

+ HOW MANY LASHES ARE IN A FULL SET OF EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

The amount of eyelashes in a set varies between styles. We hand make our fans which consist of several light lashes. We customise the set to suit the clients needs and preferred styling.

For a Natural set you can choose between a mini application (30 light hand made fans per eye) or a Natural application (70 hand made fans ber eye).

Hybrid sets consist of 35+ handcrafted fans per eye.

For the fullest look, our Volume applications are available in both Basic Volume (200+ lashes per eye) or Full Volume (300+ lashes per eye).

+ HOW MUCH DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS COST?

The cost of eyelash extensions varies depending on the type and style of the lashes to be applied. For a full list of options and prices, checkout our Loft Menu.

Before & After Treatment Advice

+ EYELASH EXTENSIONS

  • You cannot turn on a tap 12 hrs after your appointment. The glue requires a certain moisture level to cure. The correct level is from the air, the lash and the eyeball. Larger molecules than that such as running water or a tap/shower will cause the glue to cure too quickly and will cause a brittle bond and your lashes will fall off within the first week. Therefore you cannot wash your face within 12hr, you cannot have a shower even if you keep your face dry, you cannot go to the hair dressers after your appointment. You cannot run a bath for your kids. You cannot have a bath yourself. It is not about steam or hot or cold it is to do with the size of the molecules in the air. Larger molecules in the air cause the glue to bond too quickly and we do not want that.
  • After the first 12hrs you can have a shower however please keep your lashes dry for a further 12hrs.
  • You cannot have a spray tan directly before or after your appointment. Before causes residue on your lashes and the glue will not bond correctly. After your appointment will pose a problem as you cannot be near water hot or cold for 12hrs after your appointment. Therefore washing the tan off will be a problem.
  • You must not put any product onto your lids. Primer, foundation or moisturiser will cause the glue to come away from the lash. Bronzer and powders are recommended as this will soak up any natural oil that may sit on your lids.
  • You cannot have eyelash extensions before 4 weeks of having a lash lift done. As mentioned above the glue requires the moisture from the lash to start to cure. Lifts cause dehydration in the lash and therefore the extension will not adhere to the natural lash if it is dehydrated.
  • Please do not touch your lashes with your fingers. Oils and dirt can transfer to your lashes.
  • Only brush your lashes if you feel they need it. Your technician will advise the best way to do this.
  • All skin products must be oil free. Micellar water does have traces of oil so please read the ingredients list of all of your products used. Products used on the skin will move about the skin so please stay right away from your eyes.
  • Please try to not sleep on your lashes
  • Please do not use mascara. If you insist Max 2 Mascara is the brand we trust and recommend.
  • We recommend you wash your lashes each day or every second day to remove any build up residue. We recommend ProLong Lash Cleanser $29.95.

+ LASH LIFT AFTERCARE

  • Keep your lashes dry for 24hours. We stock a hydrating oil to redeposit nutrients back into the eyelashes which include growth, strengthing and lengething the eyelashes.

+ BROWS/HENNA BROWS/WAXING

  • No water on the brows for 48hours after your appointment
  • Please keep in mind if you have tan on your face, any facial waxing will remove the tan
  • For waxing please make sure the hair is at least 3-5cm long
  • It is advised you are not to be sunburnt (ouch)
